MEET   THE DOG AGILITY TRAINERS

Norm Lende     &    Shar Henry

After having 2 Golden Retriever couch potatoes we decided to get an energetic dog that we could have some fun with.  We enrolled in a professional obedience class to make sure we got off to the right start.  We were introduced to agility toward the end of the session and we were hooked.  We started training at home.  Norm built some equipment and it was all gone to the dogs from that point on.   Little did we know it would become a new way of life.  The exercise, enjoyment and new friends we've gotten from agility are truly priceless.

Being the athlete in the family Norm was the primary handler for Meg'n.  In no time at all it was clear Meg'n really liked this new game called agility.  She sailed through Novice and Open and before she was 3 she had her MX and MXJ and she was only 4 when she earned her first MACH.  In 2004 she earned her MACH, ADHF and ADCH.  Meg'n now has MACH6 and ADCH Bronze and Bronze Lifetime achievement award and continues to impress everyone with her abilities,  She was the first Golden Retriever in Colorado to earn these dog agility Championship  titles.

In the Spring of 2005 Norm decided he wanted to run a different kind of dog so we adopted a lovable little Border Collie that we call Fl'n.   When we first brought Fl'n home he was pretty shy, and didn't know how to play.  He quickly made friends with the other dogs, even Kenzi , who was sort of the Queen of the house, liked him and it wasn't long before he was a part of the family.   Fl'n started competing in April 2006 and moved into Excellent in January 2007.  He's fast and loves the game of agility and Norm is having a blast running with him.

Shar Henry and Norm Lende have been training and competing Dog Agility since 1999.  Shar and Norm live in Centennial, Colorado with 2 Golden Retrievers, Meg地 & Tar地 and a Border Collie, Fl'n.   We are Fly'n Paws Agility.

Meg地 is also known as MACH6 ADCH-Bronze Fly地 Hi Dubl Spicy Nutmeg地 CDX JH, XF  WC,ADHF.  Meg地 was the first Golden Retriever in Colorado to earn the MACH, MACH2, MACH3, MACH4 ,MACH5, MACH6,  ADHF, & ADCH titles.  Meg'n has earned the honor of competing in both AKC and USDAA nationals and international competitions over the past few years.  She has also participated in the Purina Incredible Outdoor Challenge and when she's not competing in agility she loves to compete in hunting, dock dog and obedience competitions.

Tar地, also known as  ADCH Fly地 Hi Tar地 up the Course MX, MXJ MXF is Meg'ns half sister.  Tar'n earned her ADCH in the fall of 2008 in Lawrence KS.  She's still got quite a few DQ's to go for her MACH but she's getting more and more consistent all the time.    Tar'n is also currently working on her Junior Hunt title.   Born in September of 2003 she began competing in May of 2005.  Tar'n is trying to keep up with her big sis and has also earned the honor of competing in USDAA regional  and international competitions over the past few years.

Fl'n, also known as Intrigue's In Like Fl'n AX, AXJ XF, is the newest member of the family.  Fl'n is a rescue Border Collie, loves agility, loves swimming and just loves life in general.  Fl'ns given birthday is July 4th, 2004 and he started competing in April 2006.  Fl'n too has earned the honor of competing in the USDAA Regional and International competitions

OVER THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

Kenzi, also known as MACH2 ADCH Lookout Kenzi痴 Quick as a Flash CD JH WC ADHF, was the 2nd dog we trained to compete in agility and she kept up with the pace that Meg地 set in earning titles and accomplishments.  Kenzi was the 2nd Colorado Golden Retriever to earn her MACH2.  Kenzi placed in the top 10 for agility golden retrievers for 2004 in GRCA.  Kenzi earned the honors of competing in both AKC and USDAA Nationals and international competitions and competed in the GP semi-finals at nationals.  When not competing in agility she loved to compete in hunting, dock dog and obedience competitions.  Her favorite pastime was swimming and she often would let us know when we were near a lake or river and she thought we should stop for a swim.  This was a trait that she taught Fl'n in her short time with him and he's carried it on very well.   Kenzi's life was cut short in August 2006 when she crossed over after a year long battle with Lymphoma.    We love you Kenzi.

Sheena.   She was our 2nd Golden Retriever and a wonderful addition to our family.   Sheena was almost 2 when we rescued her from a family that didn't want her anymore.  At first she would run off and we'd have to hunt her down but it didn't take her long to realize we loved her and would never give her up.   Sheena died of cancer when she was 8  but her short time with us was full of great fun and memories.

Shanno.  Our first Golden and what a pleasure he was.  Shanno introduced us into the world of owning a dog whose presence was bigger than life.   Shanno hit the scales at about 100 pounds and there wasn't an ounce of fat on that boy.  He was a big, true to the breed, Golden yet he was a  mix.   His mother was a pedigreed Golden and his father was a great fence jumper of unknown breed.   Shanno was an only child for many years and then he welcomed Sheena, Meg'n and Kenzi until he died at the age of 14.  Shanno was the one who started us on our path to the many Goldens that followed.  He was one of a kind and had a knack for making us laugh with his funny antics.   We often called him the big old dumb golden boy but he was anything but dumb.  He totally sucked us in and took advantage of a dogs life.

After helping to train Meg'n and running with her a few times Shar got  the bug to compete and we added another family member to the group.  A lovely golden named  Kenzi who took to the sport naturally.   Kenzi was very successful and  earned her MACH in August of 2004 just after her 4th birthday.   Kenzi loved agility, you could hear her screaming with joy whenever she ran a course.

In the Spring of 2004 a friend asked Shar to help her train her new dog which blossomed into Shar coaching dog agility classes from Introduction up to Masters/Excellent level at Fly'n Paws Agility.    Many years and many classes later these classes have tripled in size and Shar currently coaches over 40 students a week.

In 2003 Tar'n was added to the family.  Tar'n is a half sister to Meg'n and quite the little dynamo who can't wait to get on course and sometimes has her own ideas of how it should be done.   She's the quickest Golden we've ever trained and Shar is having a blast with her.

In August of 2005 Kenzi was diagnosed with canine lymphoma.  Kenzi continued to compete and excel in agility.  In August 2005 she earned her USDAA ADCH title and in September 2005 she earned her MACH2.  In August 2006 Kenzi's battle with cancer brought her life to an early end.
